The pediatric center is an outpatient treatment facility for children with cancer and blood disorders. This project aims to mitigate the focus on medical procedures by introducing a program of creative expression and learning. Treatment areas incorporate art, music and dance activities, classrooms and a library. Interior spaces are designed with the flexibility to accommodate this variety of activities for children of different ages in both private and group environments. All of these areas overlook a central atrium creating visual connectivity across an uplifting light-filled room. The building architecture, like the human body, is an expression of its various structural elements.
