Haliç Housing is a mixed-use residential complex that sits high above the Golden Horn with views over the city and the water. The site is surrounded by low to mid-rise residential and industrial buildings. Instead of the typical tower structures that are sprouting up all over the city, we chose to create a mid-rise building perforated with openings that create courtyards, terraces and gardens. These open spaces take advantage of the city views rather that block them and provide a variety of outdoor uses. Social amenities including cafes, children play spaces, a fitness center and a library spill onto adjacent outdoor areas. At ground level, a large garden filled with lush greenery buffers the building from the adjacent block.
