Butakovka Clubhouse

Dividing Kazakhstan and China, the rugged Tian Shan mountains are steeped in history and filled with lore. This challenging untamed terrain appeals to the athletic purpose of this project. The building’s main function is recreation with a gym, tennis courts and spa. Additionally it is a place for entertaining, a residence for visitors and a satellite work place. An undulating structure follows the natural contours of the hills, forming courtyards within its curves. Each of the four different program components command a courtyard and each courtyard landscape favors a season, telling a year-round story of this land:
