Istanbul’s Levent business district occupies a sparsely populated corridor with few crossings and no public space. To date, the city has not enacted an urban planning policy to guide successful development here. This deficiency influenced a plan that uses landscape to to generate a memorable place within which to ground the building and to create a unique work environment. Planted atrium spaces form vertical connections between floors. Sunken garden courts are viewed from the plaza and bring light to lower level offices. At the top of the building, a three-story glass enclosed garden terrace overlooks the Istanbul cityscape. The integration of gardens with the building structure and internal spaces results in a sustainable work environment with a distinctive and dynamic character.
